Overall experience was wonderful. Unit is located on the ground floor (very convenient considering there is no elevator available on the upper floors). Staff is very friendly and grounds feel safe even at night. Very convenient location with Coconut Marketplace within walking distance. Unit itself is quite dated but is upkept well and very tidy. It was very nice to have AC available. Overall, very convenient and great first time experience in Kauai.

I was happy to find upon arrival at Room 120 at the Islander on the Beach, that the room was the cleanest I've ever found a room at the Islander, and I've stayed in their rooms for 18 years. After a day or so I called Hula Now and asked if someone could bring me a broom and a woman dropped one off that night. Then halfway though our 2 week stay the lightbulb went out in the lamp between the beds. I thought I'd take one from the floor lamp but found they were burnt out too. I left a couple of short messages, (machine only gave me a minute to leave a message) with Hula Now, but no return call. So after 2 days I called Val, the cleaning person and she immediately arranged for a maintenance man to come put in new lightbulbs. Then we made the horrible mistake of accidentally leaving our car and home keys laying on the dresser at check out. We didn't realize this until landing in Oregon at almost midnight and not having keys to drive home. We had to rent a car. I again called Val in the morning and she notified Tessi, the housekeeper who would clean our room (luckily it was not rented out yet). Tessi found the keys and met with my daughter who lives on island after work to give my daughter the keys so she can mail them to us. Val and Tessi saved us and were wonderful to us! I appreciate them going above and beyond!

I love the Islander! We've stayed there since 2002 and feel it's a second home. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained.

Yes. Location was fantastic....sunrise view every morning! Beds were comfy....lots of hot water...nice pool/hot tub/ BBQ area with incredible ocean view! No troubles ....good info provided prior to arrival....smooth trip!

Yes. Comfortable bed. Lovely lanai. Kitchenette area a bit cramped, especially for washing dishes and food prep. Putting the microwave on a shelf would free up some space. Loved the Hula lamps and shades; in early December we visited the Hula Lamps shop on The Big Island and talked to the owner about the artistry that goes into making them. Your team is excellent.
